I love their Rigatoni Guiseppe! It's got sausage, mushrooms and a creamy marsala sauce - a nice combo if you want to eat something rich and stick to your ribs. The atmosphere is nice for an enjoyable evening out with a loved one, yep, I enjoy coming here alone to eat so nobody can see me pig out by myself, lol. Service is always pretty good. Prices are a little steep, but the product is definitely superior than some of the other Italian places in the area. I'll be back. Also, the lasagna is spot on.
I guy took me here for a second date, and I must say it's a very elegant restaurant. I ordered the brick chicken which was tasty, but I didn't like the presentation as it was served in a large cast iron skillet. My date ordered the mahi mahi which looked and tasted amazing. The place was full but we were seated immediately. Overall I would say this is a very nice restaurant, nice atmosphere, and great service.

My overall experience here wasn't dismal but the aftermath for my husband was real painful and swift. Came here yesterday for date dinner with my husband and we started off with the fried mozzerella and tomato bisque. The mozzerella tasted pretty good to me, but I only had a bite. My tomato bisque was forgettable. It was also too thick. It was to the point where if I took a spoonful and dropped it back in the bowl it almost just glopped right back in. I ordered the Rigatoni Giuseppe and hubby had the Toscana flatbread. Both of these tasted mediocre at best. They looked appealing but the taste was meh. And on top of that the prices were a premium. So cost benefit analysis proves that this place was definitely not worth it. But now we know. Also bottle wines were half off so we decided to get a bottle of Moscata d'Asti. When the bill arrived it said $44 for the base price when the menu stated $36. They took care of fixing the price, but patrons do be aware of the prices of things. Our server was nice, but he seemed a little dismissive or busy even when he came by to check on how we were doing. He would ask a question and as soon as I answered he left. No acknowledgement whether he heard me or cared what I said. About 5 minutes after leaving the restaurant (we were only there for about 40 min because we are fast eaters) my husband started getting really bad stomach pains and resulted in a very bad bathroom visit. He says that he has never experienced that much stomach pain ever. Needless to say...we won't be back again.

Tonight I had one of the best dining experiences of my life. I had chicken parmesan, and it was excellent. I would have gotten the soup instead of the salad (it looked amazing, but the house dressing was pretty tasty), but other than that the best part of our meal was our server, Ali. (We didn't eat him, don't worry.) He was hands down the best waiter I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. He was prompt, courteous, funny, and honest. My mom tried to order a drink and he gave a very straightforward review and convinced her to get a different drink she would be happy with. She was thrilled with his suggestion and the rest of our dinner party loved him as well - and we were dining with some people that can be natural complainers. Honestly, if you want the highest quality dining experience at Andiamo, ask for Ali.

My friend and I went here for ladies night yesterday. The drinks were the best part! $5 martinis! But the food...was awful. We tried the gazpacho, and I've had my fair share since I'm based in LA, and have many vegetarian friends. Too much sour cream on top! It was such a small portion of soup, but they smothered it in sour cream, gross. The bruschetta, I couldn't even chew the bread, it was flavorless, and the cheese wasn't very good. I think there was supposed to be figs, but I didn't get any figs sadly. Even the prosciutto wasn't tasty alone. Very disappointed. I didn't even eat mine.

I came here for Valentines Day this past weekend. Reservations were strongly suggested(which we did make). I have not been to this location before, but have experienced others. It was very crowded, which was expected and I was really impressed with the adequate staffing for the night. As crowded as it was in the restaurant it was still intimate enough to be able to have a conversation at your table. Our server was pretty good. I don't think she was one of the normal servers as she was not dressed as the others (maybe a manager), but took good care of us. The menu was limited, which was fine. They did not have two items available that we wanted to order but our server was able to make quick suggestions to us. I ordered a sweet wine which was not listed but absolutely hit the spot. It was one of the best sweet reds I have ordered at a restaurant. (I wish I remembered the name of it!) The appetizer we ordered were the arancini balls with mozz & sauce. They were pretty good and large in size. Entree portion sizes were huge....as well as the plates. I ordered the brick chicken which came out in this hug cast iron skillet. Creative, but the skillet was a little too large for our table...no big deal though. The entree was really tasty. I would probably order this again. My BF ordered the ravioli which was also very good. Overall I had a really nice experience here and will be coming back to this location in the near future.

We were visiting Wayne State and an old friend recommended this place for dinner. We were not disappointed! I lived in Rome for 6 months so I was so excited to see Suppli on the menu! Then I ordered the Frutti di Mare and it was probably the best seafood dish I've ever had! It came sizzling in a large cast-iron skillet with shrimp, clams, calamari, scallops (which were perfectly done), and squid-ink linguine in a tomato, spinach, and garlic sauce. A dish can never have enough garlic for me and this one had amazing slices of garlic in the broth! It's too bad we live about 3 1/2 hours away, otherwise I'd be here all the time! Wow.

I went for brunch on 7/19/2015. We sat outside. The service and the server we great. I ordered the Almond Crust stuffed french toast. I very pleasantly surprised. It was a very tasty. The server offered us the Mimosa Bar. I assumed since the Mimosa bar was a "fix it yourself", that it be bottomless. I was very disappointed at the size of this tiny Mimosa for $ 12.00. Great experience. Came here by myself in search of a good dinner, mature crowd, and great service. I was not let down and the atmosphere proved to be very lively yet with a high end feel. Ordered the NY strip medium rare and it was grilled to perfection. Salad and bread were awesome and, as an added bonus, I was brought a complimentary pasta side with was phenomenal. I personally don't think the ratings on here do andiamo justice. I'm from Chicago and lived in boston for a stint so I'm very familiar with stellar Italian food. To me, Andiamo is a solid 4 star Italian restaurant for what Michigan has to offer. I haven't been out here long, but I can't find another Italian restaurant that tops it right now. I've been here twice and there are a couple things I noticed. 1. Their service is incredible. They are super nice and willing to answer any questions on the menu. The staff from the hostess to the bartender to the waiting staff are very nice and attentive. They made myself and the party I was with feel important and made us want to come back. 2. I like how simple the menu is. They know what they are good at so they concentrate on those. They have a wide array of light options to Classic Italian meat and pasta dishes. The soups and salads are very good too. 3. Although it is expensive, their cocktails are exceptional as well. It's a great date restaurant and its location is key because you can make a whole night in the town after having a great meal here. Huge plus in my opinion. It turns going to dinner here into an experience. And often times the manager sees us out and asks us to come back again when we are leaving. I would argue it's one of the best weekend restaurants in royal oak. Come here with a date and/or a night on the town. Bar is classy too.

I was on the Royal Oak wine stroll and Andiamo's was our last stop, because well it's Andiamo's. ANYways, with 15 minutes left in the stroll, they started refusing customers. Not that I'm overly upset, as it was out last place...but it speaks to a larger problem of mismanagement and lack of concern for the customer. Also, Andiamo's is generally overrated.

If you're looking for the old traditional authentic Italian cuisine that I cherish when coming to any and every Andiamo, than sorry, you won't find it here. I really hope that all the locations haven't succumbed to this new modern flare too because I have been eating at Andiamos around metro Detroit for my entire life and considered it one of, if not the most favorite place of mine to eat. Buuutt.... apparently times have changed. Its an all new menu, which is extremely disappointing. 2 veal dishes? It's just sad. I had the Veal Trattoria, and it was awful. Burnt to a crisp, and came with no pasta! Arrgh. I came for the Veal Royal Oak.... but apparently it survives no more. I don't like change. I will say the one positive thing is the service is amazing. The bartender (Larry?) Is incredible. Very friendly and efficient, and all the servers and assistants are great. But it's not cheers.... I'm here for the food. Sorry not sorry to leave such a review Andiamo...but my heart is a little broken inside right now. I just wish you stood by the old faithful rule.... If it ain't broke, don't fix it!!!

Andiamos is always a winner for a solid italian meal. It's a fun atmosphere and when we have friends visit from out of town, this is where we take them. It gives the "Royal Oak" vibe that I find friends are looking for. The food is always tasty and the prices are reasonable for the type of restaurant. The wait staff is professional and the wine list has a nice range of price points for both the casual wine drinker and the aficionado. I recommend the wine over the cocktails. The mixed drinks don't have that hand-crafted quality I'd expect at the price point. But wine goes better with Italian food, anyway :-) Since we have two small children, I try to always comment on the child friendliness. I'd reserve this for dinner with friends or date night - not family dinner.

My bf and i came in for dinner not realizing the kitchen had closed 5 minutes prior. Lauren greeted us with a smile and was very sweet. We were looking forward to having a steak, and by the persuasion of Lauren, who ended up being our wonderful server, Tony, the manager graciously opened the kitchen so we could put in an order. Have been here numerous times, even for Christmas Eve. Made reservations and showed up 10 minutes early. The place was JAMMED and we knew we'd have to wait longer than expected. It turned out to be an hour wait. My medium rare steak came to the table well done. Tony, the manager, took care of it and even comped us a dessert and glass of wine...kudos to Tony! Girl at reception needs a class in people skills. Bartenders are great. Guitar entertainment is great. Will be back for cocktails; however, have had problems with quality of food prep before so we may go elsewhere for dinner.

Great place! This Andiamo is in the thick of it all, in the heart of Royal Oak. While it can take a while to find a parking spot at peak times, there is a valet available. The service was great, booked through OpenTable and they even have a rewards program! Food was a little salty, w heavy sauces, but it was an overall good value. Live music was good too, will return!

I love the Andiamo franchise and have been frequenting the Royal Oak, Novi, Livonia and West Bloomfield locations for years. I normally have a great experience but this weekend at the Royal Oak location I did not. I haven't been to this location in several years but it was my favorite restaurant when I lived in Royal Oak. Sadly, it seems the service, food and ambiance has declined. First off, they seem to have crammed more bistro style tables in to seat more people. I can't stand going to a nice restaurant expecting a sit down style experience and being stuck at a high top table that has way less space than a regular table and is almost right on top of the guests at the next high top table. But this is all they had available for us at 7p on a Saturday night despite a reservation. The service was fast at first but then it took over an hour between our appetizer and our entree despite the fact that we ordered the entree at the same time as the app. It was about 85 minutes from our order until we received the entree. The server had no explanation and just kept saying it would be up "in just a few minutes". My husband had the Toscana Mahi-Mahi and was totally underwhelmed. I had the Kale salad and despite the fact that I had ordered the large salad I received a small salad. At this point since the meal took so long to come out the server just deferred immediately to the manager regarding the mistake in my order. The manager came out and essentially brought me another small salad which was odd....now I had two small plates of salad. And she missed the fact that my original order was minus the farro and plus chicken. Worst of all, she didn't offer to discount it, take it off the bill, etc. To make matters even worse, the kale was terrible. It wasn't treated at all so it was like chewing on paper. The Livonia location makes a similar salad in which the kale is very tender and this is what I was expecting. Not so. I just feel like the whole place has gone downhill. We'll still eat at the Livonia location (Novi has sinced closed which is a shame) but we won't be back to the Royal Oak restaurant.

Good food, great service, fair pricing since it was restaurant week. It's a place I would come to if I wanted to go on a nice and proper date. Because of restaurant week, we each got a glass of wine, appetizer each, entree each, and dessert each for $35 a person. Regular price on our entrees were $25 and $30 alone so we feel like we got a great deal. I had salmon which was fantastic and she had stuffed shrimp which she liked a lot. The tiramsui was a great choice. Mixed berry cobbler was good and fresh but I think some of the other options might be better.

This place needs a higher rating, especially compared to other restaurants in Royal Oak. I've been to Andiamos many times, but this was my first time eating from the RO location. I got carry out, and was very impressed-would recommend anyone get carry out from here. Everything was wrapped with care, and the food wasn't thrown into boxes-I appreciate the small things and could tell they took their time. I ordered the portabello mushroom appetizer-always amazing. The fettucini Alfredo (I had them add more garlic) was unbelievably good! Pasta cooked perfectly and the homemade fettucini was out of this world. I had them put the grilled chicken on the side and that was cooked perfectly too. I have no idea why this place only has 3.5 stars. I'll definitely be back. My meal also came with lots of extra parmesan, a side salad, and warm bread and olive oil. See my picture!

Andiamos Royal Oak is the best restaurant in that area. They do have valley service, great waiting staff without forgetting to mention the management. Tony does a great job in managing that place. They have great dishes, most of the pastas are made in the local store there, their veal is premium quality. They have a great wine list with great prices. The waiting staff knowledge is so great they know what they serving and doing. Another thing don't forget to sign up for Mile Grazie card it's a great loyalty program they do have there.

food was awful, too much salt in everything. there was corn in everything ordered including the lobster, the crab cakes and shrimp, also had most over salted lobster bisque i ever had in my life. when you pay $30 for an entree, you would expect it to be edible at the very least. the place costs about $100 for two appetizers, one entree and two drinks. everything except the wine was dreadful. In hindsight, the empty restaurant should have been a red flag. hostess and servers were OK at best. i'd rather burn a $100 bill for a magic trick than go there. save your money!

I like it when you are running late and they have valet! This particular restaurant in Royal Oak you do not have to worry about getting a parking ticket. For $5 you can rest assured that your car will be parked safely and conveniently not too far away. Walked in and saw my sister-in-law there and we ordered a bottle of wine, especially since bottles are 1/2 off the month of June! We also ordered an appetizer - Calimari. Everything was delicious and the server was great. This is not my favorite Andiamo's but comes in close. Cheers!

Made a reservation for a Friday night and requested a window. I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived we were taken immediately to our window table. Heather was our waitress, and was pleasant and timed everything perfectly. We ordered calamari for an appetizer and was great. For an entree, I ordered the filet with zip sauce. Asked for it medium well and it came out well done, minor detail. The filet was good, not the best I've had but good. The other entrees ordered were veal and salmon entrees, both of which were cooked to perfection and delicious according to the other friends at our table. My only disappointment was, we were celebrating 2 birthdays and Andiamos does not do anything for birthdays. Most places give a complimentary dessert so that was a disappointment. However, we ended up ordering the cherry cheesecake which was very good. Overall, good dining experience.

I recently had dinner here with my husband and another couple on a busy Saturday night. It was our first time at this location. Our dinner experience ended up being a terrible one sadly. It was also extremly noisy and we could not hear each other across the table unless we yelled. Our reservation was ran a 1/2 hour behind. The hostess kept telling us that it would be "another ocuple of minutes" which turned out to be a 1/2 hour. Please don't tell your customers "a couple of minutes" when in fact you have no idea how long it will be! What's the point of having a reservation if it cannot be honored?? When we were finally seated and ordered drinks and appetizers, it took just as long to get them. It took even longer for our main courses to arrive and when they did there was an issue with our food. One of the dishes had to be sent back for being under cooked. Not sure if their kitchen staff were in a super hurry or what...... We waited a long time to get the plate back. (Forgot to mentiont hat we found a piece of what appeared to be a large chunk of steak grizzle in the tomato sauce that accompanied the calamari appetizer. Yep, it was steak GRIZZLE. I spit it out because I could not chew it. Totally gross! The server said he would take the appetizer charge off our final bill. My meal consisted of whitefish - which was drowning in melted butter. I only picked at it. The server noticed said he would bring me something else however by that time my appetite had vanished. At least the martini I had was good. We had to keep asking for condiments as the server did not bring any. Water refills were plenty though by the busboy. We asked to speak to the manager and he apologized for the issue we were having. The excuse we got was it being the last day of some $25 coupon special they offered. Apparently their kitchen staff is not prepared to handle large crowds on a Saturday night. We did get 2 free desserts to share between the four of us. It was little consolation at that point. We will not be back to Andiamo again.

I've been to two other Andiamo locations which I do prefer to some extent. Still we had a group of 15 and on a busy Friday night over a holiday weekend we had excellent food here. The crowd was fun and the atmosphere was lively and while we had a long, nearly 1 hour wait it was nice to walk around and show my guests (from out of town) the Royal Oak area. The only negative about the meal was that the waitstaff was attentive but not particularly exceptional in answering questions (the two other Andiamo's were much better but I haven't been to either recently). What made the evening was the quality of the food. All 15 of us loved the food and my guests that night still ask if I have been back to try the other entrees. The meat eaters had a good variety to choose from and all commented on the outstanding mix of seasonings in each of their dishes. The vegetarians all enjoyed the pastas (risotto, manicotti, fettuccine, and, for me, the gnocchi, which I loved as it was a nice mix of tangy and sweet). We ordered plenty of desserts and loved them all. Speaking of desserts lol, I also commend restaurants which are introducing health-conscious options and Andiamo has done an excellent job there. It is a pricey dinner but a great place to enjoy a meal with a big group.

Dinner with a dear friend. Waiting for our table, we hovered by the bar in hopes of grabbing a glass of wine, but the bartender(s) didn't look over the stools. Loitering sans libation, we felt a bit neglected as our shortish statures failed to catch their eye. This all ended when we arrived at the table. The noise level pleasantly dropped, an assortment of bread was bestowed, the festive sploosh of water glasses filled. Then there was Russell, our server. The minute he breezed up to say hello, we adored him! Fun, pleasant, and smiling warmly on a crazy busy night that would have had me in shreds, he made us feel like his only table as he saw to our every need. His fun demeanor and attentiveness made our night, a wonderful asset to this restaurant and to humanity. Our dinner was exceptional as well-lots of attention to texture, temperature, and spice. My stuffed chicken breast was enormous and totally tender without being pounded into oblivion. The rosemary and garlic veggies had me savoring every bite, and our drinks were perfection. This, coupled with the fabulous Russell's perfectly timed visits, made for a special meal I won't soon forget. I'll be honest-their mostly "young professional" crowd really isn't my scene. Andiamo did it right, making it not matter what element we were in as we thoroughly enjoyed. There's a finite number of lovely evenings like this in our lifetimes-what a pleasure to have spent one here.

Whatever you do, do NOT make reservations here on Valentines day. My husband made reservations for us 2 weeks prior to the date. Reservations were at 8pm. by 8:50 we were still waiting to be sat. We were told there were still 4 people ahead of us and had no idea when we would be seated. I sure hope chris makes a lotta $$$ I've heard mixed reviews about andiamos so I decided to give it a try. After my experience, I prefer carabbas to be honest (ironic MUCH since Andiamo's boasts freshly made food as a differentiator). I was underwhelmed to say the least with my food but was completely surprised by my service experience. I like dishes that are heavy on flavor and light on cost. I initially tried the Alfredo. Ummm salty blandness. It could be that the delicious Alfredo at carrabbas ( pasta weesie) which is loaded with flavor has me spoiled but even Olive Garden Alfredo is better! I informed chris that it wasn't good which was not the answer he was looking for. I got the lasagna and was satisfied. I have to say that from the moment I sat at the bar and took my coat off until I cashed out, that guy was on it! He's easy going but crazy good. He use my name every time he asked me a question and made the experience what jt should have been. If you work for a company and are looking for a great sales person or team leader, just sit down and order and watch. I used to bartend and he does ALL of the stuff that restaurant owners wish their bartenders did for their guests. It comes off natural and convincing. Humble guy with great people skills and even better service standards. I wish him the best!!! I'll come back here if someone else pays. When I do, i'll probably order a salad. The manager was nice enough when he came to talk to me ( i didnt request him BTW). I think it took everything in him not to call me a lunatic when i began to boast that a chain restaurant had better food. I get it that they supposedly roll their pasta daily and make sauces to order ( which i dont believe) but if at the end of the day the flavor is missing, you have not successfully conveyed your food point of view if you will to my taste buds. The ambiance is swell enough and the staff gives it their best! I think they really want you to enjoy yourself here and aside from the cackling ladies who sat next to me i did! I would suggest a revamp of the dishes to make it more flavorful vs more salty. The nail was hit on the head with the staff ! I really hope they lose Chris though to a better opportunity for him and his family!

Last night we enjoined another splendid evening at Andiamo restaurant in Royal Oak. The food was divined and the service top of the line. One of my favorite appetizers is beef tips with portable mushrooms and with their special sauce. Andiamo Royal Oak is a place that makes us always feel special every time.

Horrible service (as usual for the Royal Oak Andiamo) but last night was particularly awful in regards to customer respect. Reservation was 1hour late and on my groups 3rd time of inquiring about timing we were told that we were being rude to other customers (because we were complaining). At that time a group came in with the same number as my group and they were immediately sat. Never once did the hostess or pseudo-manager apologize or offer an explanation for their service. So we left. Regarding food, I have enjoyed the flavors and variety, but have always experienced poor service. I'm tired of giving this restaurant chain an opportunity to improve their managerial skills. In short, don't waste your time at this place.

First let me preface with the fact that I am a fan of Andiamo in general. I find their specials inspired and the chef has his finger on the pulse of not only what is in season but also what is in vogue in the metro area. I have visited this location on a handful of occasions for drinks only due to the fact they serve delicious espresso in addition to specialty cocktails-great for the DD and the booze hounds when in RO. Recently I took a party of five there for a birthday dinner and the experience left much to be desired. The food was outstanding as usual, however, the service was awful. We were sat in the bar area and it seemed we were far away from the server's normal section as we did not see her at all aside from her taking the order and, after extended wait times, dropping refills. Now, I can put up with slow service especially given the nature of the multi-course meals Andiamo is know for but this was ridiculous. Our table had more interaction with the busboy and food-runner than with our server. The worst part though did not come until the end. We had some buy one get one coupons for July-we tip on the pre-discounted amount anyways but our waitress made it a point to include this information in block letters on top of the bill. Then I assembled the payment which included a gift card from one couple, cash from another and then my credit card. I told her to take off the first two forms of payment and put the rest on my card. Well, she must have been banking on me not knowing the total because she overcharged my card by twenty dollars and pocketed the cash. I had to go to the hostess stand and wait, yet again, for her to "fix the problem." I guess I can say I really don't know for sure that she did it on purpose but I was livid at that point after having waited for her the entire night. Long story short, visit this location at your own risk. And make sure you keep an eye on the bill/payment.

I first went to this place about 5 or 6 years ago and thought it was pretty good then. Since my wife can cook pretty much anything on that menu as good as their chef can prepare it, we usually don't go out for Italian food. However, a few weeks ago, we dined here again, and we really really liked the menu and the food. We liked it so much that we went back again this past weekend. We especially like the "small plates" option, which gives you a smaller version of the entree usually for under $10. This is probably the portion that all Americans should eat. While the food is well above the average Italian eateries in the area, it's really the ambiance at Adiamo's that makes the experience enjoyable. It's young and hip with positive energy. However, the service could be improved. They appear to hire the staff for their looks, not abilities. Our server didn't bring a few items that our table requested more than once. That, coupled with a limited knowledge of the wine list, translated into a less than average tip. Also, it seemed that every thirty seconds someone was trying to remove my plate simply because I put my fork down. I finally asked if they were running short on dishes in the kitchen and really needed my plate. It could have just been that night the service was not very good. I will give them the benefit of the doubt. Adiamo's is a great place for date night.

I always enjoy coming to Andiamo's. I've been to most of their locations, especially the one located on 14 and Van Dyke. The location, decor, and ambiance are great. The place gets quite busy during dinner on a weekend, so it can feel quite cramped in there at times, but not overbearing. The bread and oil that is served when you sit down was excellent. Fresh bread and oil is one of my favorite things to start a meal with. My girlfriend and I started with the hot peppers and sausage (using the layman's terms for this review). This is served with roasted peppers, sliced potatoes with a tomato glaze sauce over. While being extremely delicious, the portion was lacking for its price tag. A group of 4 could not share this. It came with only 3 bit sized pieces of sausage. Sausage is pretty much cheapest meat product served in an Italian restaurant, so not sure why the tiny portion. +1 for taste, -1 for portion. Next came the salads. We both got the house dressing, a creamy garlic dressing that was really good. Can't really write much more on a salad. Pasta dish was excellent as always. Their sauce is one of the best around, IMO. The main courses left a lot on the table. I had the veal with prosciutto. This was served with vegetables and potatoes. This was pretty good, however the sauce served over the veal was a tad salty. Not unbearable. The veal itself was cooked very nicely and the prosciutto was crispy to offset the tenderness of the veal. My girlfriend had the chicken alla aldo. Unfortunately, the sauce was very salty. Not sure what was going on here, but almost unbearable. We probably should've of said something, but we aren't ones to openly complain unless it is terrible. Unfortunately, the whole meal started great and tapered off dramatically. Disappointing. I've had great meals here, so maybe an off night or something. Both sauces were too salty, one being way more than the other. I've never experienced food this ill-prepared at the other locations I've been to or this one. The service was excellent as always. The team was very prompt, keeping the drinks full, table cleared, etc. This experience will not turn me off to coming here or any other location again because I've had great meals here before, but I'm pretty disappointed in tonight's performance. Would give this meal 2 stars, but giving it 3 because I know they can do better.

No hype? Did I go to the same restaurant? This place serves standard Italian fare, nothing new, nothing creative, no truffle oil to be found. Just slightly updated versions of classics. Boring but edible food. The cannoli cake was stale. And my mixed foofoo drink was too sweet (as was my mother's). The wines listed by the glass were nothing special or unique. I'm not sure why there wasn't more red Italian wines by the glass on the menu and why the only wines by the glass were pinot grigios or chianti. Seriously?

Although it took a bit longer for my carry out appetizer, it was perfectly cooked and the bar staff was more than welcoming. This is my second time and Andiamos and I think I'd be silly to not come back...especially after they filled me in on ladies night.

I was a mille grazie member for awhile, and if you like this restaurant you should look into it, but I don't visit as much anymore. Here is my general critique of Andiamo followed by a more location specific critique: The prices are a little high, and you might be paying more for the ambiance than quality of food. However, that isn't to say the food is poor quality. Quite the contrary. It's yummy :-) I have never really ordered anything I didn't like here, but I don't eat seafood so I can't say I've sampled that fare. Regardless, depending on your budget there isn't really a dish that you can go wrong with. Location -- The Royal Oak location is chic. Good staff and great feel. The location is right on the main street so you can just enjoy downtown and then walk on over to Andiamo for your meal. Definitely recommend this location.

I grew up in Metro Detroit and have since moved out of town, but my extended family is still in the area, so my parents were looking for a classy but easy-going venue to have a celebratory lunch when my fiance' and I got engaged. In researching a lot of the venues that fit the bill in the area, most lacked detailed information on their websites. But Andiamo's has a detailed banquet menu on their website, which was our first victory here. When we followed up our online research with a phone call, we spoke with one of two Heathers on the four-person management staff. She was really friendly and helped us find an available Saturday (the restaurant is closed to the public and available for private affairs on Saturdays from 12 - 4). Over the course of the following few months, I called to ask questions and spoke with Heather, the other Heather, Sandy and Tony - all four managers - at least once. Each was equally professional and helpful, which was nice since we were planning from out of town. The venue is small and intimate, we had about 60 people and it was pretty much full. We were told that they would open up the booths for seating if we needed to accomodate more. I loved that the many windows let in a lot of natural light, for a light, cheery feeling, even though it was raining on the day of the event. The party itself was wonderful and went off without a hitch. The kitchen and waitstaff went out of their way to accomodate us, help us set up the cake table, and just generally make the occassion fun and memorable. There honestly were no "meltdown moments" during our whole planning process, and that's largely because the staff here was so fabulous. In the course of our planning, we had the chance to come into town and eat at the restaurant once, and had a several dishes available at the party itself. I heard fabulous reviews of the lasagna, the fettucine alfredo, and I myself had the Chicken Valdostana, which was fantastic. For anyone planning a luncheon/event of any kind, I would definitely recommend checking out Andiamo Osteria as a possible venue.

My Sister & Brother in-law wanted to take both my hubs and I out for a belated birthday dinner, and we decided to come back to Andiamos. It's become a tradition of sorts as the past two years, we've opted for the restaurant. It never fails, and the food is always great. There are two vegetarians in our party, and there was plenty to choose from on the menu. I used to be a vegetarian, and their portobello appetizer was always the closest thing I'd ever had that tasted like a filet. Since I am a carnivore again, I opted for the filet. Oh my goodness. This thing was cooked to perfection and honestly might be one of the best I've ever had. Highly recommend it. Other than that, the restaurant was buzzing and definitely busy. They still brought out the food in a timely manner, and everything was good. The only problem was that the music was pretty loud and we were shouting back and forth to speak to one another. This was on a Saturday night though, so I expected nothing less:) We had a great time, and I look forward to going back next year.

I've been to this place a few times in the past 3 months. You won't go wrong. Great steak and zip sauce. Filet cuts like butter. Pasta and meatballs went over big with the kids. Gnocchi with tomato sauce, instead of creamy tomato sauce, was also good. Highly recommend the risotto balls appetizer. Fried risotto with mozz cheese on the inside in a pool of tomato sauce... I have been here only a few times and will go back. There is no other italian in RO (I'm missing Lepanto!). The bar area was loud when the live music kicked in. Couldn't talk over it. Restaurant seating is ok - but chairs are not comfortable! Desert was really good - chocolate cups filled with Kahlua - most excellent!

This place was quite hard to believe. Salads were not that great (yeah, the salad.. how do you screw that up??). All of the meals tasted like they came out of a can (canned sauces) and lacked flavor. I ordered the veal and it was terrible. The sauce it was cooked in was not flavorful and the veal itself was dry and overcooked. Definitely not a place to revisit.

And so I ask myself ... is this 5-star rating the result of missing the Lakefront Andiamo that Deb and I so often frequented? Back in the days of yore, when plates of risotto primavera, fresh fettucini de salmone and Deb's split of Rosa Regale adorned our booth and danced on our palates? Ok, that's a bit corny, but we seriously miss the Lakefront Andiamo and at the risk of sounding like Raymond Babbit ... Rojo sucks. Back to this review ... the Royal Oak Andiamo has consistently salved the wound inflicted by Lakefront's departure. All aspects leave us complaint-free ... the service, the ambiance, the location (it's Royal Oak for cryin' out loud ... people watching central), and most importantly, the food. In all honesty, our visit on this day was for dessert and a drink as we had just hours before dined at Mitchell's in Birmingham. However, being tempted by both the dishes passing our table and the need to assure myself that this is our replacement for Lakefront ... I followed our selections of lemon cheesecake and tiramisu with a stealthy, "Oh, and an order of Risotto Primavera to go please" ... as casually as if I were asking for an extra napkin. Yes, Deb looked shocked, but she understood. (The Risotto, at home the next day proved that my foresight is something I should trust more often. Loaded with chicken and ample amounts of veggies with the risotto itself, as usual, cooked to perfection.) I've bragged on this dish before and Andiamo Osteria does nothing to change my opinion. The desserts, by the way, were outstanding as well. The answer to my question is pretty clear ... Andiamo Osteria earns the 5 stars on merit, not on our feelings of "Andiabandonment". This is where you should go if you're pining away for Lakefront. Actually, this is where you should go if you want quality food delivered in a quality setting. Salut!

If pressed, I would say this is my favorite Italian restaurant in the Detroit area, though it isn't terribly authentic Italian food or really on par with other favorite restaurants of mine elsewhere. But still, I enjoy eating here whenever a special occasion arises. It is a bit overpriced for the amount of food you get, but all of the food I have had here has been good to very good and the service has always been speedy and friendly. Truly, if you don't mind the hefty price and don't want to gorge yourself, it's the best place to eat in Royal Oak.

I used to like this place. I heard several reviews saying it was over priced, over rated and poor service. I decided to take a chance by myself before taking anyone with me and the other reviews I read were correct. Portion was over priced. I was there ten minutes before the hostess even acknowledged me. The next time to avoid all of that nonsense I called ahead to get a takeout for a decent meal to take home. The bar was half empty and the bar tender who was taking the take out orders conducted herself as if she were busier than a New York night club while I waited for my take out that had been sitting there for twenty minutes while she caught herself up. I am so disappointed! I had dinner here last night with a really close friend. I have been to an Andiamo before, so I was expecting the same type of experience that I had the time before! I should have never set any expectations and will learn to do so from now on. They're slogan is "11 Unique Settings, 11 Authentic Italian Experiences".. I don't care for this setting.. It was SOOO loud I could barely pay attention to our own conversation! I was there around 8:30 at night on a Friday, and I was expecting a wait.. The hostess said about 45 minutes.. I was fine with waiting because I thought I knew how good the food would be - here we are: back to expectations... I ordered the veal marsala -- big mistake. The veal was FATTY! I was astounded! I have never in my life had fatty veal.. The poor cows barely have enough time on this planet to eat, let alone eat enough to get fat. (sorry, cruel joke).. But my portion was ridiculously small for $24. I have no problem with small portions if the food is decent, but it was nothing special. I had like 8 green beens on my plate.. The plate didn't even look pretty.. I ordered a bud light and my usual extra dirty martini -- can't make a mistake with that.. and they do have feta stuffed olives, so I was a bit relieved. My friend ordered beef tips.. I thought they were good, but he wanted them well done, but they were somewhere between medium and medium well.. Cooking a steak really shouldn't be that difficult. I feel like I am completely bashing this place -- and I kind of am. I didn't have a horrible experience, but I would honestly try a different Andiamo. The Detroit Riverfront location was amazing. A++ I don't think I will go back here - considering the price and quality of food. Simply put. Enjoy. : )

Good place for a fancy Italian meal. We had my dads surprise party here, the waiter was very nice and helpful and the food was pretty good. I ordered the spaghetti with the Arrabbiata sauce which is just a spicy marina sauce. The sauce was just right and had pieces of plump tomato's, tasty! I recommend this place for small gatherings, as well as a romantic dinner for 2. The prices are pretty high though, but is definitely good for those special occasions.

Dinner at Andiamo Osteria in Royal Oak on August 9, 2010..party of 7. So disappointing. Service was very slow. Restaurant was not busy, it was 730pm on a Monday evening. 15 minutes to take our drink orders, out of the wine we requested. Some of us ordered salads and I had to walk back near the kitchen after 20 minutes to inquire when they would be served. We were notified 15 minutes after ordering one of their 'light' dishes, that they were out of it, so the order needed to be changed. Salmon was suggested to another person in our party and when it arrived, after one bite, it was returned. Taste was bad and it was very dry and overdone. Another person ordered gnocci and the serving portion was barely half full. It didn't even cover the bottom of the serving dish. We asked for a manager and she took FOREVER to arrive to address our concern. She offered to take 2 bottles of wine off of our meal and she did not charge us for 4 of the 7 entrees (which meant nothing really, because we had 2-for-1 coupons which we never redeemed). Bill was paid and the next day we saw two different charges (and different amounts) on our visa. We inquired and are waiting on a return phone call. We have been to at least 5 of their restaurants in the metro area countless times and even had our rehearsal dinner for our wedding at the trattoria in GP. I never would have expected such a poor experience . We are disappointed enough to not return and spend 15 minutes writing a horrible review.

I've had Andiamo both at this location, and their off-premise catering service. First, the restaurant: Andiamo must love building their restaurants on intersections, because the three that I've been to have all been at intersections. Why this is, I have no idea. They really know how to put together an attractive restaurant together. This part of the experience was amazing; attractive tables, well dressed and well mannered staff made us feel welcome. Now, one thing I do whenever I go to a new Italian restaurant is build my meal around Melanzane alla Parmigiana, because I've had it enough to know what good Melanzane P should taste like. It's a dish that usually makes or breaks my opinion of an eatery. I wasn't impressed with Andiamo's way of making it. The breading on the eggplant was all wrong, and their sauce was passable. I will say that they make really tasty Gnocchi, but that wasn't enough for me to trumpet their culinary accomplishments. For their catering service, I attended a wedding where all of the food was provided by Andiamo. The dinner that was served was akin to my experience of their in-house dinner; "they did it wrong." The chicken silciliano looked and tasted basically like boiled chicken breast, and overshadowed everything else that was served, possibly except for the bread, which was herb covered and wonderful. But the appetizer table was stocked well with breads, fresh veggies, shrimp, and cheeses. I must have went back to the appetizer table ten times! It wasn't enough to fill me.

This is exactly why I don't like Andiamos. There food is sooo icky. So I happened to b in Royal oak and out of all the choices I decided to give this location a whirl. Why?! I have no idea. Omg....drenched in old and I do mean old oil. Oil that they must use to cook for everything. We started out with a ceaser salad with anchovies.....that were out of a tin can of course....and beyond salty....now I know anchovies and they are salty.....but I spit it out....I actually made a weird face and then spit it out lmao! Even the salad lacked flavor and personality. Then we ordered the pan seared scallops (shared we weren't that hungry) and OMG.....UGH! Disgusting. Omg mushrooms were soaking in oil, the entree was just a mess. The only good thing about it was the scallops were nicely colored....but other than that......disaster.....won't be eating there ever ever again. EVER! And ty away from their risottos.....sticky,looks like something I wouldn't even feed a stray animal. And taste like crap! This place needs some major TLC and the help of Gordon Ramsay.....pronto!

One high note on our dining experience is that our server Kayla suggested a Californian Meritage (red wine) that proved to be an excellent choice. The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

I love their Rigatoni Guiseppe! It's got sausage, mushrooms and a creamy marsala sauce - a nice combo if you want to eat something rich and stick to your ribs. The atmosphere is nice for an enjoyable evening out with a loved one, yep, I enjoy coming here alone to eat so nobody can see me pig out by myself, lol. Service is always pretty good. Prices are a little steep, but the product is definitely superior than some of the other Italian places in the area. I'll be back. Also, the lasagna is spot on.

As someone who has grown up in NY to an Italian family and traveled across Italy, Italian cuisine is a pretty integral aspect of my diet. So I wasn't sure what to expect when I moved from NY to Michigan. Andiamo was the first restaurant in Michigan that I've tried. Not only was the service exceptional - my waitress Nicole was attentive while we dined and even offered suggestions for places in the community I should know (like supermarkets and other stores). It was a great welcome to Mi! In addition to such fabulous service, the food was beyond satisfying. The bread and dipping sauce was fantastic. We started with some fried calamari and went on to our main courses -- mine was the fresh "homemade" spinach and egg pasta with alfredo sauce. My fiancé had the most tender veal marsala I've tasted in a while. Neither of us could finish our main courses, but when we reheated them later on they were still just as delicious. My only "complaint" (if you can even call it that) was that the fried calamari appetizer included many onion rings which I don't care for as much. However, I wouldn't really consider that a huge issue. I can't wait to return and try other options on their menu -- or to repeat the ones we already tried.

I guy took me here for a second date, and I must say it's a very elegant restaurant. I ordered the brick chicken which was tasty, but I didn't like the presentation as it was served in a large cast iron skillet. My date ordered the mahi mahi which looked and tasted amazing. The place was full but we were seated immediately. Overall I would say this is a very nice restaurant, nice atmosphere, and great service.

My overall experience here wasn't dismal but the aftermath for my husband was real painful and swift. Came here yesterday for date dinner with my husband and we started off with the fried mozzerella and tomato bisque. The mozzerella tasted pretty good to me, but I only had a bite. My tomato bisque was forgettable. It was also too thick. It was to the point where if I took a spoonful and dropped it back in the bowl it almost just glopped right back in. I ordered the Rigatoni Giuseppe and hubby had the Toscana flatbread. Both of these tasted mediocre at best. They looked appealing but the taste was meh. And on top of that the prices were a premium. So cost benefit analysis proves that this place was definitely not worth it. But now we know. Also bottle wines were half off so we decided to get a bottle of Moscata d'Asti. When the bill arrived it said $44 for the base price when the menu stated $36. They took care of fixing the price, but patrons do be aware of the prices of things. Our server was nice, but he seemed a little dismissive or busy even when he came by to check on how we were doing. He would ask a question and as soon as I answered he left. No acknowledgement whether he heard me or cared what I said. About 5 minutes after leaving the restaurant (we were only there for about 40 min because we are fast eaters) my husband started getting really bad stomach pains and resulted in a very bad bathroom visit. He says that he has never experienced that much stomach pain ever. Needless to say...we won't be back again.

Tonight I had one of the best dining experiences of my life. I had chicken parmesan, and it was excellent. I would have gotten the soup instead of the salad (it looked amazing, but the house dressing was pretty tasty), but other than that the best part of our meal was our server, Ali. (We didn't eat him, don't worry.) He was hands down the best waiter I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. He was prompt, courteous, funny, and honest. My mom tried to order a drink and he gave a very straightforward review and convinced her to get a different drink she would be happy with. She was thrilled with his suggestion and the rest of our dinner party loved him as well - and we were dining with some people that can be natural complainers. Honestly, if you want the highest quality dining experience at Andiamo, ask for Ali.

My friend and I went here for ladies night yesterday. The drinks were the best part! $5 martinis! But the food...was awful. We tried the gazpacho, and I've had my fair share since I'm based in LA, and have many vegetarian friends. Too much sour cream on top! It was such a small portion of soup, but they smothered it in sour cream, gross. The bruschetta, I couldn't even chew the bread, it was flavorless, and the cheese wasn't very good. I think there was supposed to be figs, but I didn't get any figs sadly. Even the prosciutto wasn't tasty alone. Very disappointed. I didn't even eat mine.

I came here for Valentines Day this past weekend. Reservations were strongly suggested(which we did make). I have not been to this location before, but have experienced others. It was very crowded, which was expected and I was really impressed with the adequate staffing for the night. As crowded as it was in the restaurant it was still intimate enough to be able to have a conversation at your table. Our server was pretty good. I don't think she was one of the normal servers as she was not dressed as the others (maybe a manager), but took good care of us. The menu was limited, which was fine. They did not have two items available that we wanted to order but our server was able to make quick suggestions to us. I ordered a sweet wine which was not listed but absolutely hit the spot. It was one of the best sweet reds I have ordered at a restaurant. (I wish I remembered the name of it!) The appetizer we ordered were the arancini balls with mozz & sauce. They were pretty good and large in size. Entree portion sizes were huge....as well as the plates. I ordered the brick chicken which came out in this hug cast iron skillet. Creative, but the skillet was a little too large for our table...no big deal though. The entree was really tasty. I would probably order this again. My BF ordered the ravioli which was also very good. Overall I had a really nice experience here and will be coming back to this location in the near future.

We were visiting Wayne State and an old friend recommended this place for dinner. We were not disappointed! I lived in Rome for 6 months so I was so excited to see Suppli on the menu! Then I ordered the Frutti di Mare and it was probably the best seafood dish I've ever had! It came sizzling in a large cast-iron skillet with shrimp, clams, calamari, scallops (which were perfectly done), and squid-ink linguine in a tomato, spinach, and garlic sauce. A dish can never have enough garlic for me and this one had amazing slices of garlic in the broth! It's too bad we live about 3 1/2 hours away, otherwise I'd be here all the time! Wow.

I went for brunch on 7/19/2015. We sat outside. The service and the server we great. I ordered the Almond Crust stuffed french toast. I very pleasantly surprised. It was a very tasty. The server offered us the Mimosa Bar. I assumed since the Mimosa bar was a "fix it yourself", that it be bottomless. I was very disappointed at the size of this tiny Mimosa for $ 12.00. Cafe Muse around the corner is way better as far as taste, quality of food, and variety of brunch options.

Great experience. Came here by myself in search of a good dinner, mature crowd, and great service. I was not let down and the atmosphere proved to be very lively yet with a high end feel. Ordered the NY strip medium rare and it was grilled to perfection. Salad and bread were awesome and, as an added bonus, I was brought a complimentary pasta side with was phenomenal. All of this while chilling at the bar. Definitely will return.

I personally don't think the ratings on here do andiamo justice. I'm from Chicago and lived in boston for a stint so I'm very familiar with stellar Italian food. To me, Andiamo is a solid 4 star Italian restaurant for what Michigan has to offer. I haven't been out here long, but I can't find another Italian restaurant that tops it right now. I've been here twice and there are a couple things I noticed. 1. Their service is incredible. They are super nice and willing to answer any questions on the menu. The staff from the hostess to the bartender to the waiting staff are very nice and attentive. They made myself and the party I was with feel important and made us want to come back. 2. I like how simple the menu is. They know what they are good at so they concentrate on those. They have a wide array of light options to Classic Italian meat and pasta dishes. The soups and salads are very good too. 3. Although it is expensive, their cocktails are exceptional as well. It's a great date restaurant and its location is key because you can make a whole night in the town after having a great meal here. Huge plus in my opinion. It turns going to dinner here into an experience. And often times the manager sees us out and asks us to come back again when we are leaving. I would argue it's one of the best weekend restaurants in royal oak. Come here with a date and/or a night on the town. Bar is classy too.

We came to Andiamo's for brunch today, and it was very enjoyable. I had a whole wheat croissant that tasted more decadent than some "fancy" pastries I've had. The " make your own" Bloody Mary bar was fun. I was surprised to find that this is only the 2nd week since they've started brunch service. We'll be back for sure.

I was on the Royal Oak wine stroll and Andiamo's was our last stop, because well it's Andiamo's. ANYways, with 15 minutes left in the stroll, they started refusing customers. Not that I'm overly upset, as it was out last place...but it speaks to a larger problem of mismanagement and lack of concern for the customer. Also, Andiamo's is generally overrated.

If you're looking for the old traditional authentic Italian cuisine that I cherish when coming to any and every Andiamo, than sorry, you won't find it here. I really hope that all the locations haven't succumbed to this new modern flare too because I have been eating at Andiamos around metro Detroit for my entire life and considered it one of, if not the most favorite place of mine to eat. Buuutt.... apparently times have changed. Its an all new menu, which is extremely disappointing. 2 veal dishes? It's just sad. I had the Veal Trattoria, and it was awful. Burnt to a crisp, and came with no pasta! Arrgh. I came for the Veal Royal Oak.... but apparently it survives no more. I don't like change. I will say the one positive thing is the service is amazing. The bartender (Larry?) Is incredible. Very friendly and efficient, and all the servers and assistants are great. But it's not cheers.... I'm here for the food. Sorry not sorry to leave such a review Andiamo...but my heart is a little broken inside right now. I just wish you stood by the old faithful rule.... If it ain't broke, don't fix it!!!

Andiamos is always a winner for a solid italian meal. It's a fun atmosphere and when we have friends visit from out of town, this is where we take them. It gives the "Royal Oak" vibe that I find friends are looking for. The food is always tasty and the prices are reasonable for the type of restaurant. The wait staff is professional and the wine list has a nice range of price points for both the casual wine drinker and the aficionado. I recommend the wine over the cocktails. The mixed drinks don't have that hand-crafted quality I'd expect at the price point. But wine goes better with Italian food, anyway :-) Since we have two small children, I try to always comment on the child friendliness. I'd reserve this for dinner with friends or date night - not family dinner.

My bf and i came in for dinner not realizing the kitchen had closed 5 minutes prior. Lauren greeted us with a smile and was very sweet. We were looking forward to having a steak, and by the persuasion of Lauren, who ended up being our wonderful server, Tony, the manager graciously opened the kitchen so we could put in an order. The staff was so accomodating and the food was delicious as always! I've been here many times over the years and service like this is why I continue to come back! Have been here numerous times, even for Christmas Eve. Made reservations and showed up 10 minutes early. The place was JAMMED and we knew we'd have to wait longer than expected. It turned out to be an hour wait. My medium rare steak came to the table well done. Tony, the manager, took care of it and even comped us a dessert and glass of wine...kudos to Tony! Girl at reception needs a class in people skills. Bartenders are great. Guitar entertainment is great. Will be back for cocktails; however, have had problems with quality of food prep before so we may go elsewhere for dinner.

This is easily my favorite of the Andiamo's! Best Filet Mignon around and the Andiamo Zip Sauce is TO DIE FOR. Their house salad dressing is a creamy garlic romano and it is the best salad dressing I've ever had. The service here is usually very good, and the manager here, Tony, is such a class act! He sets the bar extremely high for how management should be at every other restaurant across the state! Love this place!!!

Great place! This Andiamo is in the thick of it all, in the heart of Royal Oak. While it can take a while to find a parking spot at peak times, there is a valet available. The service was great, booked through OpenTable and they even have a rewards program! Food was a little salty, w heavy sauces, but it was an overall good value. Live music was good too, will return!

I love the Andiamo franchise and have been frequenting the Royal Oak, Novi, Livonia and West Bloomfield locations for years. I normally have a great experience but this weekend at the Royal Oak location I did not. I haven't been to this location in several years but it was my favorite restaurant when I lived in Royal Oak. Sadly, it seems the service, food and ambiance has declined. First off, they seem to have crammed more bistro style tables in to seat more people. I can't stand going to a nice restaurant expecting a sit down style experience and being stuck at a high top table that has way less space than a regular table and is almost right on top of the guests at the next high top table. But this is all they had available for us at 7p on a Saturday night despite a reservation. The service was fast at first but then it took over an hour between our appetizer and our entree despite the fact that we ordered the entree at the same time as the app. It was about 85 minutes from our order until we received the entree. The server had no explanation and just kept saying it would be up "in just a few minutes". My husband had the Toscana Mahi-Mahi and was totally underwhelmed. I had the Kale salad and despite the fact that I had ordered the large salad I received a small salad. At this point since the meal took so long to come out the server just deferred immediately to the manager regarding the mistake in my order. The manager came out and essentially brought me another small salad which was odd....now I had two small plates of salad. And she missed the fact that my original order was minus the farro and plus chicken. Worst of all, she didn't offer to discount it, take it off the bill, etc. To make matters even worse, the kale was terrible. It wasn't treated at all so it was like chewing on paper. The Livonia location makes a similar salad in which the kale is very tender and this is what I was expecting. Not so. I just feel like the whole place has gone downhill. We'll still eat at the Livonia location (Novi has sinced closed which is a shame) but we won't be back to the Royal Oak restaurant.

Good food, great service, fair pricing since it was restaurant week. It's a place I would come to if I wanted to go on a nice and proper date. Because of restaurant week, we each got a glass of wine, appetizer each, entree each, and dessert each for $35 a person. Regular price on our entrees were $25 and $30 alone so we feel like we got a great deal. I had salmon which was fantastic and she had stuffed shrimp which she liked a lot. The tiramsui was a great choice. Mixed berry cobbler was good and fresh but I think some of the other options might be better.

This place needs a higher rating, especially compared to other restaurants in Royal Oak. I've been to Andiamos many times, but this was my first time eating from the RO location. I got carry out, and was very impressed-would recommend anyone get carry out from here. Everything was wrapped with care, and the food wasn't thrown into boxes-I appreciate the small things and could tell they took their time. I ordered the portabello mushroom appetizer-always amazing. The fettucini Alfredo (I had them add more garlic) was unbelievably good! Pasta cooked perfectly and the homemade fettucini was out of this world. I had them put the grilled chicken on the side and that was cooked perfectly too. I have no idea why this place only has 3.5 stars. I'll definitely be back. My meal also came with lots of extra parmesan, a side salad, and warm bread and olive oil. See my picture!

So- I came here without knowing it was a chain restaurant. I'm usually not a fan of chains, but there was nothing amazing nor bad about my experience. They do have: Great Service Valet Parking Take Reservations 1/2 off Wine Selections Reward card for frequent patrons They don't have: Amazing Italian food (standard- but over priced for the quality and selection) The saving grace is the Pasta was Al Dente - but I wouldn't come back for dinner. Andiamos Royal Oak is the best restaurant in that area. They do have valley service, great waiting staff without forgetting to mention the management. Tony does a great job in managing that place. They have great dishes, most of the pastas are made in the local store there, their veal is premium quality. They have a great wine list with great prices. The waiting staff knowledge is so great they know what they serving and doing. Another thing don't forget to sign up for Mile Grazie card it's a great loyalty program they do have there.

food was awful, too much salt in everything. there was corn in everything ordered including the lobster, the crab cakes and shrimp, also had most over salted lobster bisque i ever had in my life. when you pay $30 for an entree, you would expect it to be edible at the very least. the place costs about $100 for two appetizers, one entree and two drinks. everything except the wine was dreadful. In hindsight, the empty restaurant should have been a red flag. hostess and servers were OK at best. i'd rather burn a $100 bill for a magic trick than go there. save your money!

I like it when you are running late and they have valet! This particular restaurant in Royal Oak you do not have to worry about getting a parking ticket. For $5 you can rest assured that your car will be parked safely and conveniently not too far away. Walked in and saw my sister-in-law there and we ordered a bottle of wine, especially since bottles are 1/2 off the month of June! We also ordered an appetizer - Calimari. Everything was delicious and the server was great. This is not my favorite Andiamo's but comes in close. Cheers!

Made a reservation for a Friday night and requested a window. I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived we were taken immediately to our window table. Heather was our waitress, and was pleasant and timed everything perfectly. We ordered calamari for an appetizer and was great. For an entree, I ordered the filet with zip sauce. Asked for it medium well and it came out well done, minor detail. The filet was good, not the best I've had but good. The other entrees ordered were veal and salmon entrees, both of which were cooked to perfection and delicious according to the other friends at our table. My only disappointment was, we were celebrating 2 birthdays and Andiamos does not do anything for birthdays. Most places give a complimentary dessert so that was a disappointment. However, we ended up ordering the cherry cheesecake which was very good. Overall, good dining experience.

Nobody does it better in Royal Oak!! From the food to the staff, Andiamo is top notch! Not to mention the awesome happy hour (3-6 M-F) is half off all drinks and happy hour food!! I highly recommend the beef aldo for HH, it is a small filet with portobello mushroom, Boursin cheese, and zip sauce on a crostini... To die for! I am always impressed with my experience top to bottom... Kudos to andiamo because I really am a picky ass bitch ;)

I recently had dinner here with my husband and another couple on a busy Saturday night. It was our first time at this location. Our dinner experience ended up being a terrible one sadly. It was also extremly noisy and we could not hear each other across the table unless we yelled. Our reservation was ran a 1/2 hour behind. The hostess kept telling us that it would be "another ocuple of minutes" which turned out to be a 1/2 hour. Please don't tell your customers "a couple of minutes" when in fact you have no idea how long it will be! What's the point of having a reservation if it cannot be honored?? When we were finally seated and ordered drinks and appetizers, it took just as long to get them. It took even longer for our main courses to arrive and when they did there was an issue with our food. One of the dishes had to be sent back for being under cooked. Not sure if their kitchen staff were in a super hurry or what...... We waited a long time to get the plate back. (Forgot to mentiont hat we found a piece of what appeared to be a large chunk of steak grizzle in the tomato sauce that accompanied the calamari appetizer. Yep, it was steak GRIZZLE. I spit it out because I could not chew it. Totally gross! The server said he would take the appetizer charge off our final bill. My meal consisted of whitefish - which was drowning in melted butter. I only picked at it. The server noticed said he would bring me something else however by that time my appetite had vanished. At least the martini I had was good. We had to keep asking for condiments as the server did not bring any. Water refills were plenty though by the busboy. We asked to speak to the manager and he apologized for the issue we were having. The excuse we got was it being the last day of some $25 coupon special they offered. Apparently their kitchen staff is not prepared to handle large crowds on a Saturday night. We did get 2 free desserts to share between the four of us. It was little consolation at that point. We will not be back to Andiamo again.

I'm a big fan of Thursday nights at Andiamo for 2 reasons...it's ladies night so there are great drink specials AND they have live music!!! I always sit at the bar so I can be close to the action. Larry, the bartender is always super nice and friendly. The music starts around 8 or 9 and is always good.

I've been to two other Andiamo locations which I do prefer to some extent. Still we had a group of 15 and on a busy Friday night over a holiday weekend we had excellent food here. The crowd was fun and the atmosphere was lively and while we had a long, nearly 1 hour wait it was nice to walk around and show my guests (from out of town) the Royal Oak area. The only negative about the meal was that the waitstaff was attentive but not particularly exceptional in answering questions (the two other Andiamo's were much better but I haven't been to either recently). What made the evening was the quality of the food. All 15 of us loved the food and my guests that night still ask if I have been back to try the other entrees. The meat eaters had a good variety to choose from and all commented on the outstanding mix of seasonings in each of their dishes. The vegetarians all enjoyed the pastas (risotto, manicotti, fettuccine, and, for me, the gnocchi, which I loved as it was a nice mix of tangy and sweet). We ordered plenty of desserts and loved them all. Speaking of desserts lol, I also commend restaurants which are introducing health-conscious options and Andiamo has done an excellent job there. It is a pricey dinner but a great place to enjoy a meal with a big group.

Dinner with a dear friend. Waiting for our table, we hovered by the bar in hopes of grabbing a glass of wine, but the bartender(s) didn't look over the stools. Loitering sans libation, we felt a bit neglected as our shortish statures failed to catch their eye. This all ended when we arrived at the table. The noise level pleasantly dropped, an assortment of bread was bestowed, the festive sploosh of water glasses filled. Then there was Russell, our server. The minute he breezed up to say hello, we adored him! Fun, pleasant, and smiling warmly on a crazy busy night that would have had me in shreds, he made us feel like his only table as he saw to our every need. His fun demeanor and attentiveness made our night, a wonderful asset to this restaurant and to humanity. Our dinner was exceptional as well-lots of attention to texture, temperature, and spice. My stuffed chicken breast was enormous and totally tender without being pounded into oblivion. The rosemary and garlic veggies had me savoring every bite, and our drinks were perfection. This, coupled with the fabulous Russell's perfectly timed visits, made for a special meal I won't soon forget. I'll be honest-their mostly "young professional" crowd really isn't my scene. Andiamo did it right, making it not matter what element we were in as we thoroughly enjoyed. There's a finite number of lovely evenings like this in our lifetimes-what a pleasure to have spent one here.

Whatever you do, do NOT make reservations here on Valentines day. My husband made reservations for us 2 weeks prior to the date. Reservations were at 8pm. by 8:50 we were still waiting to be sat. We were told there were still 4 people ahead of us and had no idea when we would be seated. I'm sure other days that aren't a holiday would be fine but for Valentines Day choose elsewhere or be ready to wait 2 hours even with a reservation!

I sure hope chris makes a lotta $$$ I've heard mixed reviews about andiamos so I decided to give it a try. After my experience, I prefer carabbas to be honest (ironic MUCH since Andiamo's boasts freshly made food as a differentiator). I was underwhelmed to say the least with my food but was completely surprised by my service experience. I like dishes that are heavy on flavor and light on cost. I initially tried the Alfredo. Ummm salty blandness. It could be that the delicious Alfredo at carrabbas ( pasta weesie) which is loaded with flavor has me spoiled but even Olive Garden Alfredo is better! I informed chris that it wasn't good which was not the answer he was looking for. I got the lasagna and was satisfied. I have to say that from the moment I sat at the bar and took my coat off until I cashed out, that guy was on it! He's easy going but crazy good. He use my name every time he asked me a question and made the experience what jt should have been. If you work for a company and are looking for a great sales person or team leader, just sit down and order and watch. I used to bartend and he does ALL of the stuff that restaurant owners wish their bartenders did for their guests. It comes off natural and convincing. Humble guy with great people skills and even better service standards. I wish him the best!!! I'll come back here if someone else pays. When I do, i'll probably order a salad. The manager was nice enough when he came to talk to me ( i didnt request him BTW). I think it took everything in him not to call me a lunatic when i began to boast that a chain restaurant had better food. I get it that they supposedly roll their pasta daily and make sauces to order ( which i dont believe) but if at the end of the day the flavor is missing, you have not successfully conveyed your food point of view if you will to my taste buds. The ambiance is swell enough and the staff gives it their best! I think they really want you to enjoy yourself here and aside from the cackling ladies who sat next to me i did! I would suggest a revamp of the dishes to make it more flavorful vs more salty. The nail was hit on the head with the staff ! I really hope they lose Chris though to a better opportunity for him and his family!

Last night we enjoined another splendid evening at Andiamo restaurant in Royal Oak. The food was divined and the service top of the line. One of my favorite appetizers is beef tips with portable mushrooms and with their special sauce. Andiamo Royal Oak is a place that makes us always feel special every time.

Horrible service (as usual for the Royal Oak Andiamo) but last night was particularly awful in regards to customer respect. Reservation was 1hour late and on my groups 3rd time of inquiring about timing we were told that we were being rude to other customers (because we were complaining). At that time a group came in with the same number as my group and they were immediately sat. Never once did the hostess or pseudo-manager apologize or offer an explanation for their service. So we left. Regarding food, I have enjoyed the flavors and variety, but have always experienced poor service. I'm tired of giving this restaurant chain an opportunity to improve their managerial skills. In short, don't waste your time at this place.

First let me preface with the fact that I am a fan of Andiamo in general. I find their specials inspired and the chef has his finger on the pulse of not only what is in season but also what is in vogue in the metro area. I have visited this location on a handful of occasions for drinks only due to the fact they serve delicious espresso in addition to specialty cocktails-great for the DD and the booze hounds when in RO. Recently I took a party of five there for a birthday dinner and the experience left much to be desired. The food was outstanding as usual, however, the service was awful. We were sat in the bar area and it seemed we were far away from the server's normal section as we did not see her at all aside from her taking the order and, after extended wait times, dropping refills. Now, I can put up with slow service especially given the nature of the multi-course meals Andiamo is know for but this was ridiculous. Our table had more interaction with the busboy and food-runner than with our server. The worst part though did not come until the end. We had some buy one get one coupons for July-we tip on the pre-discounted amount anyways but our waitress made it a point to include this information in block letters on top of the bill. Then I assembled the payment which included a gift card from one couple, cash from another and then my credit card. I told her to take off the first two forms of payment and put the rest on my card. Well, she must have been banking on me not knowing the total because she overcharged my card by twenty dollars and pocketed the cash. I had to go to the hostess stand and wait, yet again, for her to "fix the problem." I guess I can say I really don't know for sure that she did it on purpose but I was livid at that point after having waited for her the entire night. Long story short, visit this location at your own risk. And make sure you keep an eye on the bill/payment.

I first went to this place about 5 or 6 years ago and thought it was pretty good then. Since my wife can cook pretty much anything on that menu as good as their chef can prepare it, we usually don't go out for Italian food. However, a few weeks ago, we dined here again, and we really really liked the menu and the food. We liked it so much that we went back again this past weekend. We especially like the "small plates" option, which gives you a smaller version of the entree usually for under $10. This is probably the portion that all Americans should eat. While the food is well above the average Italian eateries in the area, it's really the ambiance at Adiamo's that makes the experience enjoyable. It's young and hip with positive energy. However, the service could be improved. They appear to hire the staff for their looks, not abilities. Our server didn't bring a few items that our table requested more than once. That, coupled with a limited knowledge of the wine list, translated into a less than average tip. Also, it seemed that every thirty seconds someone was trying to remove my plate simply because I put my fork down. I finally asked if they were running short on dishes in the kitchen and really needed my plate. It could have just been that night the service was not very good. I will give them the benefit of the doubt. Adiamo's is a great place for date night.

I always enjoy coming to Andiamo's. I've been to most of their locations, especially the one located on 14 and Van Dyke. The location, decor, and ambiance are great. The place gets quite busy during dinner on a weekend, so it can feel quite cramped in there at times, but not overbearing. The bread and oil that is served when you sit down was excellent. Fresh bread and oil is one of my favorite things to start a meal with. My girlfriend and I started with the hot peppers and sausage (using the layman's terms for this review). This is served with roasted peppers, sliced potatoes with a tomato glaze sauce over. While being extremely delicious, the portion was lacking for its price tag. A group of 4 could not share this. It came with only 3 bit sized pieces of sausage. Sausage is pretty much cheapest meat product served in an Italian restaurant, so not sure why the tiny portion. +1 for taste, -1 for portion. Next came the salads. We both got the house dressing, a creamy garlic dressing that was really good. Can't really write much more on a salad. Pasta dish was excellent as always. Their sauce is one of the best around, IMO. The main courses left a lot on the table. I had the veal with prosciutto. This was served with vegetables and potatoes. This was pretty good, however the sauce served over the veal was a tad salty. Not unbearable. The veal itself was cooked very nicely and the prosciutto was crispy to offset the tenderness of the veal. My girlfriend had the chicken alla aldo. Unfortunately, the sauce was very salty. Not sure what was going on here, but almost unbearable. We probably should've of said something, but we aren't ones to openly complain unless it is terrible. Unfortunately, the whole meal started great and tapered off dramatically. Disappointing. I've had great meals here, so maybe an off night or something. Both sauces were too salty, one being way more than the other. I've never experienced food this ill-prepared at the other locations I've been to or this one. The service was excellent as always. The team was very prompt, keeping the drinks full, table cleared, etc. This experience will not turn me off to coming here or any other location again because I've had great meals here before, but I'm pretty disappointed in tonight's performance. Would give this meal 2 stars, but giving it 3 because I know they can do better.

No hype? Did I go to the same restaurant? This place serves standard Italian fare, nothing new, nothing creative, no truffle oil to be found. Just slightly updated versions of classics. Boring but edible food. The cannoli cake was stale. And my mixed foofoo drink was too sweet (as was my mother's). The wines listed by the glass were nothing special or unique. I'm not sure why there wasn't more red Italian wines by the glass on the menu and why the only wines by the glass were pinot grigios or chianti. Seriously?

I came here for a carry out appetizer and left with an appreciation for the staff. Although it took a bit longer for my carry out appetizer, it was perfectly cooked and the bar staff was more than welcoming. This is my second time and Andiamos and I think I'd be silly to not come back...especially after they filled me in on ladies night.

I was a mille grazie member for awhile, and if you like this restaurant you should look into it, but I don't visit as much anymore. Here is my general critique of Andiamo followed by a more location specific critique: The prices are a little high, and you might be paying more for the ambiance than quality of food. However, that isn't to say the food is poor quality. Quite the contrary. It's yummy :-) I have never really ordered anything I didn't like here, but I don't eat seafood so I can't say I've sampled that fare. Regardless, depending on your budget there isn't really a dish that you can go wrong with. Location -- The Royal Oak location is chic. Good staff and great feel. The location is right on the main street so you can just enjoy downtown and then walk on over to Andiamo for your meal. Definitely recommend this location.

I grew up in Metro Detroit and have since moved out of town, but my extended family is still in the area, so my parents were looking for a classy but easy-going venue to have a celebratory lunch when my fiance' and I got engaged. In researching a lot of the venues that fit the bill in the area, most lacked detailed information on their websites. But Andiamo's has a detailed banquet menu on their website, which was our first victory here. When we followed up our online research with a phone call, we spoke with one of two Heathers on the four-person management staff. She was really friendly and helped us find an available Saturday (the restaurant is closed to the public and available for private affairs on Saturdays from 12 - 4). Over the course of the following few months, I called to ask questions and spoke with Heather, the other Heather, Sandy and Tony - all four managers - at least once. Each was equally professional and helpful, which was nice since we were planning from out of town. The venue is small and intimate, we had about 60 people and it was pretty much full. We were told that they would open up the booths for seating if we needed to accomodate more. I loved that the many windows let in a lot of natural light, for a light, cheery feeling, even though it was raining on the day of the event. The party itself was wonderful and went off without a hitch. The kitchen and waitstaff went out of their way to accomodate us, help us set up the cake table, and just generally make the occassion fun and memorable. There honestly were no "meltdown moments" during our whole planning process, and that's largely because the staff here was so fabulous. In the course of our planning, we had the chance to come into town and eat at the restaurant once, and had a several dishes available at the party itself. I heard fabulous reviews of the lasagna, the fettucine alfredo, and I myself had the Chicken Valdostana, which was fantastic. For anyone planning a luncheon/event of any kind, I would definitely recommend checking out Andiamo Osteria as a possible venue.

My Sister & Brother in-law wanted to take both my hubs and I out for a belated birthday dinner, and we decided to come back to Andiamos. It's become a tradition of sorts as the past two years, we've opted for the restaurant. It never fails, and the food is always great. There are two vegetarians in our party, and there was plenty to choose from on the menu. I used to be a vegetarian, and their portobello appetizer was always the closest thing I'd ever had that tasted like a filet. Since I am a carnivore again, I opted for the filet. Oh my goodness. This thing was cooked to perfection and honestly might be one of the best I've ever had. Highly recommend it. Other than that, the restaurant was buzzing and definitely busy. They still brought out the food in a timely manner, and everything was good. The only problem was that the music was pretty loud and we were shouting back and forth to speak to one another. This was on a Saturday night though, so I expected nothing less:) We had a great time, and I look forward to going back next year.

Went there after a day at the Detroit Zoo and this was a great ending. Food is very good. Not as fancy as some of the other Andiamo's. In a nice location right in downtown Royal Oak.

I've been to this place a few times in the past 3 months. You won't go wrong. Great steak and zip sauce. Filet cuts like butter. Pasta and meatballs went over big with the kids. Gnocchi with tomato sauce, instead of creamy tomato sauce, was also good. Highly recommend the risotto balls appetizer. Fried risotto with mozz cheese on the inside in a pool of tomato sauce... I have been here only a few times and will go back. There is no other italian in RO (I'm missing Lepanto!). The bar area was loud when the live music kicked in. Couldn't talk over it. Restaurant seating is ok - but chairs are not comfortable! Desert was really good - chocolate cups filled with Kahlua - most excellent!

This place was quite hard to believe. Salads were not that great (yeah, the salad.. how do you screw that up??). All of the meals tasted like they came out of a can (canned sauces) and lacked flavor. I ordered the veal and it was terrible. The sauce it was cooked in was not flavorful and the veal itself was dry and overcooked. Definitely not a place to revisit.

And so I ask myself ... is this 5-star rating the result of missing the Lakefront Andiamo that Deb and I so often frequented? Back in the days of yore, when plates of risotto primavera, fresh fettucini de salmone and Deb's split of Rosa Regale adorned our booth and danced on our palates? Ok, that's a bit corny, but we seriously miss the Lakefront Andiamo and at the risk of sounding like Raymond Babbit ... Rojo sucks. Back to this review ... the Royal Oak Andiamo has consistently salved the wound inflicted by Lakefront's departure. All aspects leave us complaint-free ... the service, the ambiance, the location (it's Royal Oak for cryin' out loud ... people watching central), and most importantly, the food. In all honesty, our visit on this day was for dessert and a drink as we had just hours before dined at Mitchell's in Birmingham. However, being tempted by both the dishes passing our table and the need to assure myself that this is our replacement for Lakefront ... I followed our selections of lemon cheesecake and tiramisu with a stealthy, "Oh, and an order of Risotto Primavera to go please" ... as casually as if I were asking for an extra napkin. Yes, Deb looked shocked, but she understood. (The Risotto, at home the next day proved that my foresight is something I should trust more often. Loaded with chicken and ample amounts of veggies with the risotto itself, as usual, cooked to perfection.) I've bragged on this dish before and Andiamo Osteria does nothing to change my opinion. The desserts, by the way, were outstanding as well. The answer to my question is pretty clear ... Andiamo Osteria earns the 5 stars on merit, not on our feelings of "Andiabandonment". This is where you should go if you're pining away for Lakefront. Actually, this is where you should go if you want quality food delivered in a quality setting. Salut!

If pressed, I would say this is my favorite Italian restaurant in the Detroit area, though it isn't terribly authentic Italian food or really on par with other favorite restaurants of mine elsewhere. But still, I enjoy eating here whenever a special occasion arises. It is a bit overpriced for the amount of food you get, but all of the food I have had here has been good to very good and the service has always been speedy and friendly. Truly, if you don't mind the hefty price and don't want to gorge yourself, it's the best place to eat in Royal Oak.

I used to like this place. I heard several reviews saying it was over priced, over rated and poor service. I decided to take a chance by myself before taking anyone with me and the other reviews I read were correct. Portion was over priced. I was there ten minutes before the hostess even acknowledged me. The next time to avoid all of that nonsense I called ahead to get a takeout for a decent meal to take home. The bar was half empty and the bar tender who was taking the take out orders conducted herself as if she were busier than a New York night club while I waited for my take out that had been sitting there for twenty minutes while she caught herself up. As much as I used to like the food this was a real disappointment and I don't make a habit of getting on these sites to make bad reviews

I am so disappointed! I had dinner here last night with a really close friend. I have been to an Andiamo before, so I was expecting the same type of experience that I had the time before! I should have never set any expectations and will learn to do so from now on. They're slogan is "11 Unique Settings, 11 Authentic Italian Experiences".. I don't care for this setting.. It was SOOO loud I could barely pay attention to our own conversation! I was there around 8:30 at night on a Friday, and I was expecting a wait.. The hostess said about 45 minutes.. I was fine with waiting because I thought I knew how good the food would be - here we are: back to expectations... I ordered the veal marsala -- big mistake. The veal was FATTY! I was astounded! I have never in my life had fatty veal.. The poor cows barely have enough time on this planet to eat, let alone eat enough to get fat. (sorry, cruel joke).. But my portion was ridiculously small for $24. I have no problem with small portions if the food is decent, but it was nothing special. I had like 8 green beens on my plate.. The plate didn't even look pretty.. I ordered a bud light and my usual extra dirty martini -- can't make a mistake with that.. and they do have feta stuffed olives, so I was a bit relieved. My friend ordered beef tips.. I thought they were good, but he wanted them well done, but they were somewhere between medium and medium well.. Cooking a steak really shouldn't be that difficult. I feel like I am completely bashing this place -- and I kind of am. I didn't have a horrible experience, but I would honestly try a different Andiamo. The Detroit Riverfront location was amazing. A++ I don't think I will go back here - considering the price and quality of food. Simply put. Enjoy. : )

Good place for a fancy Italian meal. We had my dads surprise party here, the waiter was very nice and helpful and the food was pretty good. I ordered the spaghetti with the Arrabbiata sauce which is just a spicy marina sauce. The sauce was just right and had pieces of plump tomato's, tasty! I recommend this place for small gatherings, as well as a romantic dinner for 2. The prices are pretty high though, but is definitely good for those special occasions.

In general, I think Andiamo is overpriced. You're paying megabucks for, well, a pasta dish. But I will say that the atmosphere is really nice, we have always gotten great service there, and the location is in the heart of royal oak, center of the action. So this one is a toss-up...

Best Italian food in Michigan! I've been to the lakefront Andiamo in Detroit, and I def prefer that one more for the ambiance. But this local Andiamo was the spot for Italian! It's been 4 years since I've been here, but I still have not come across a better Italian fine dining spot in AZ.

Dinner at Andiamo Osteria in Royal Oak on August 9, 2010..party of 7. So disappointing. Service was very slow. Restaurant was not busy, it was 730pm on a Monday evening. 15 minutes to take our drink orders, out of the wine we requested. Some of us ordered salads and I had to walk back near the kitchen after 20 minutes to inquire when they would be served. We were notified 15 minutes after ordering one of their 'light' dishes, that they were out of it, so the order needed to be changed. Salmon was suggested to another person in our party and when it arrived, after one bite, it was returned. Taste was bad and it was very dry and overdone. Another person ordered gnocci and the serving portion was barely half full. It didn't even cover the bottom of the serving dish. We asked for a manager and she took FOREVER to arrive to address our concern. She offered to take 2 bottles of wine off of our meal and she did not charge us for 4 of the 7 entrees (which meant nothing really, because we had 2-for-1 coupons which we never redeemed). Bill was paid and the next day we saw two different charges (and different amounts) on our visa. We inquired and are waiting on a return phone call. We have been to at least 5 of their restaurants in the metro area countless times and even had our rehearsal dinner for our wedding at the trattoria in GP. I never would have expected such a poor experience . We are disappointed enough to not return and spend 15 minutes writing a horrible review.

I hosted my 40th birthday party. We decided to all order off the menu and they brought us 6 appetisers or so. The waiter was exceptional, and everybodies food was really, really great. I dont know how they continually get such great food quality from their kitche. Amazing. Thanks had a great time!

I've had Andiamo both at this location, and their off-premise catering service. First, the restaurant: Andiamo must love building their restaurants on intersections, because the three that I've been to have all been at intersections. Why this is, I have no idea. They really know how to put together an attractive restaurant together. This part of the experience was amazing; attractive tables, well dressed and well mannered staff made us feel welcome. Now, one thing I do whenever I go to a new Italian restaurant is build my meal around Melanzane alla Parmigiana, because I've had it enough to know what good Melanzane P should taste like. It's a dish that usually makes or breaks my opinion of an eatery. I wasn't impressed with Andiamo's way of making it. The breading on the eggplant was all wrong, and their sauce was passable. I will say that they make really tasty Gnocchi, but that wasn't enough for me to trumpet their culinary accomplishments. For their catering service, I attended a wedding where all of the food was provided by Andiamo. The dinner that was served was akin to my experience of their in-house dinner; "they did it wrong." The chicken silciliano looked and tasted basically like boiled chicken breast, and overshadowed everything else that was served, possibly except for the bread, which was herb covered and wonderful. But the appetizer table was stocked well with breads, fresh veggies, shrimp, and cheeses. I must have went back to the appetizer table ten times! It wasn't enough to fill me.

This is exactly why I don't like Andiamos. There food is sooo icky. So I happened to b in Royal oak and out of all the choices I decided to give this location a whirl. Why?! I have no idea. Omg....drenched in old and I do mean old oil. Oil that they must use to cook for everything. We started out with a ceaser salad with anchovies.....that were out of a tin can of course....and beyond salty....now I know anchovies and they are salty.....but I spit it out....I actually made a weird face and then spit it out lmao! Even the salad lacked flavor and personality. Then we ordered the pan seared scallops (shared we weren't that hungry) and OMG.....UGH! Disgusting. Omg mushrooms were soaking in oil, the entree was just a mess. The only good thing about it was the scallops were nicely colored....but other than that......disaster.....won't be eating there ever ever again. EVER! And ty away from their risottos.....sticky,looks like something I wouldn't even feed a stray animal. And taste like crap! This place needs some major TLC and the help of Gordon Ramsay.....pronto!

This placed agreed to the royal oak wine stroll which we payed $40 to be a part of! They were our last stop at 445 before the 5pm close and they refused to serve us and broke their agreement because of their dinner crowd coming in. Never will I go here!

Recommended by locals. The fish I ordered had an overwhelming and bitter garlic flavor. Other dishes I tasted were fine. One high note on our dining experience is that our server Kayla suggested a Californian Meritage (red wine) that proved to be an excellent choice. Could not wait to get back home and purchase a few bottles. What a find!. It made it all worthwhile. Thank you Kayla.

Good place, but I'd prefer the Andiamo Detroit Riverfront over this because of it's gorgeous location. Royal Oak is a nice place as well but it's not on the riverfront.... Nice staff.
